Eternal Candlelight:

posted on Ap(e)ril 1, 2016 by Neon Chimp.

We are pleased to announce that our 2nd album, "Eternal Candlelight", will be released this month via Band Camp, with a vinyl release to follow later in the year. More updates to follow soon, but for now, please enjoy the cover art, created by our friend Richard Eliot.

Transitions:

posted on October 13, 2015 by Neon Chimp.

It has been a long time since we updated this website. Most updates about the band over the past few years have come via the official Twitter and Facebook pages. The biggest news is that Prime8 has officially come out as transgender. In other words, he is now a she. While transgender people are only just beginning to become accepted here on Earth, on planet Quagaar they are a major part of our culture. The transition process is seen as similar to the regeneration process of the Time Lords of Gallifrey by Quagaarians. While Prime8 is transitioning from male to female, on Quagaar, there are actually 9 different genders (Male, Female, Gherkin, Coaster, Dust, Pizza, Sock, Armpit and Bowie).

Happy New Year:

posted on January 10, 2014 by Neon Chimp.

Happy New Year! 2013 was a big year for The Quagaars. The vinyl pressings of "Dodge City Tombstone" were finally released after numerous delays, the official video for "Atomic Rain" was released and was even shown on C31's "Asylum", there was also several internet exclusive videos released and finally, The Quagaars began performing live again for the first time in nearly 5 years with sets at "The Green Table" and "Warneet Motor Yacht Club". So far in 2014 they've returned to the "Warneet Motor Yacht Club" for their first show of the year, we've launched the official Twitter page (@TheQuagaars) and now we've also uploaded the entire album "Dodge City Tombstone" to be streamed via SoundCloud so people can have a listen before they buy the physical release (which is now only $20 plus postage and comes with a free bonus copy of the album on CD). Tonight, we return to "The Green Table" for the first time this year. As always, video will be posted on "The Neon Chimp Channel" on YouTube with links on both Facebook and Twitter.

Website and Other News:

posted on August 21, 2013 by Neon Chimp.

As you may have noticed, the website has had a bit of a make over. The old lay out looked a bit like something out of 1996, so we've now updated it with a much more modern look...say around 1998.
Plans are under way for The Quagaars to return to the live stage after a long break in which they were working on their debut and 2nd albums. No dates have been announced as yet, but they will be posted here once anything has been made official.
The Quagaars can now be found on Facebook via www.facebook.com/quagaars. This will be the place to get the most up to date information regarding upcoming performances, releases, etc.
You also may have noticed a reference to the 2nd album. The Quagaars 2nd album has been recorded and is currently in the mixing stages of production. At this stage it will be called "Eternal Candlelight", however this is subject to change. It will feature 13 new songs including the theme from "The Gorilla Position" and "Deckchair" which has been performed live many times in the past.
More film clips could be coming soon with early pre production planning already under way for the next music video from "Dodge City Tombstone". We will reveal more information as we get closer to production, including which song shall be visualized.

For those of you waiting patiently for "Dodge City Tombstone", the album is now in stock! It's currently exclusive to vinyl, but I'm sure that Prime8 would be only to happy to run off a CD-R for anyone who buys it but doesn't own a record player.
In other news, the band has made a film clip for the song "Atomic Rain". The video was shot on location at Bekaert Textiles and stars Alternative Model/ Glamour Model/Actress Dani Lugosi as "The Eco Warrior", a Superhero out to save the world from Litterers, Hunters, Polluters, etc. The bad guys are played by some of the greatest Professional Wrestlers in the business, most notably "The Anarchist" Alex Haize, Alexi Papadopoulos and Slikk Steev. The video can be found on YouTube, our "Videos" page or...RIGHT HERE:

Well, it's been a long time coming but today we can finally announce the release of The Quaagars' debut album "Dodge City Tombstone". Work started on the album way back in the year 2000 when the band was known as "The Glass Tree Memorial Band". Since then, various other band members have come and gone and the name has changed several times, but the album has always been a work in progress. Now it's finished and can be pre ordered by visiting the link towards the top of this page.

The Quagaars Take Over The Castle:

posted on July 31, 2009 by Neon Chimp.

Earlier this month, The Quagaars played another amazing gig at The Castle in Dandenong. To see video of this performance, check out the videos section of this site. Also posted is a rare promo for 'Early Morning Darkness' from 2005, back when there was a 3rd Quagaar. The video was shown on 'The Lee Elliott Show' along with a short interview with Prime8.

The Quagaars Launch Official Website:

If you are reading this then it means you've found your way to the new official website of The Quagaars. The site is still in it's early stages and you may find some links don't work or picutres don't load, but these things will be fixed in the coming months.

The Return Of The Quagaars:

posted on Ap(e)ril 21, 2009 by Neon Chimp

For those of you who missed it, The Quagaars performed live for the first time in over 2 years at The Castle. The set contained many old favourites as well as some new songs. Along with the original songs by Prime8 and/or Checkers were 2 covers. The first being 'Sour Milk Sea' by George Harrison (which has been part of the Quagaars set for many years now) and 'Listen To The Band' by Mike Nesmith (yes, the guy with the hat from The Monkees) which went down very well indeed. The Quagaars are currently planning on doing a lot more live performances this year and as soon as anything has been booked, the information will be here, on this very site and also on the official MySpace page.

The Quagaars Debut Album Coming Soon:

posted on Ap(e)ril 21, 2009 by Neon Chimp

While still in the early stages (not bad for something that's been a work in progress for nearly 10 years now), The Quagaars first official album (not counting the 2 Demo Albums) is currently being recorded. The as yet untitled album will be the first released on Neon Chimp. You can currently preview 6 tracks over at the official MySpace page. These recordings are by no means the final versions as they still require some overdubs and mixing, but they will give you the general idea.
